Chess Live Latest Games ("the app") is designed to respect your privacy. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with information.

We do not collect your data

The app has no user accounts and requires no sign-in. We do not collect, store, sell, or share personal information. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking software.

Camera (optional “Play only while watching”)

If you turn on the optional “Play only while watching” feature, the app uses the front camera together with Apple’s ARKit face tracking to detect whether you are looking at the screen, so that move playback can pause when you look away. This processing happens entirely on your device in real time. No image, video, or facial data is recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. The feature is off by default, and you can turn it off at any time or revoke camera access in the iOS Settings app.

Network requests

To show live games and player information, the app fetches publicly available chess data from third-party services such as Lichess and Chess.com, and player photos from Wikipedia. These requests are made over secure connections and do not include personal information about you. When you open a commentary stream or a source link, your device opens that link in your browser or the relevant app, and that destination’s own privacy policy then applies.

Optional AI commentary (your own API key)

The app lets you optionally generate game commentary using your own Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI) API key. If you choose to use this feature, your API key is stored only in your device’s local settings and is sent only to the provider you selected, only when you request commentary. We never receive, store, or transmit your key. Your use of those providers is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

Content you save

Bookmarks, notes, imported PGNs, and your appearance preferences are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to us.

Children’s privacy

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will be revised.
