Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Petal Plant Garden ("Petal", "we", "our", or "us") handles your information when you use our iOS application. We built Petal to be a calm, personal place for plant care — and we treat your data with that same care.

The short version

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not run third-party advertising or tracking inside the app.
• Your plant data lives on your device and (optionally) in your private iCloud.
• If you choose to post to the community, only the content you post and your chosen username are made public.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data you create in the app

Petal lets you record plant names, watering schedules, photos, journal entries, and care notes. This data is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled and you opt in to photo sync, the data and photos are also synced through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit and Key-Value Store. We do not have access to this data.

1.2 Community features (optional)

If you choose to use the community features (posting, replying, claiming a username), the username, post content, and any photos you choose to share are sent to and stored on our server (kinsman.cc) so they can be delivered to other users. We also store an anonymous community identifier and access token to authenticate your device. We do not collect your real name, email address, or contact information for community use.

1.3 Subscriptions and purchases

In‑app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment information. Apple provides us with a transaction identifier so we can verify your Pro subscription status and link it to your community profile.

1.4 Diagnostics

Petal does not include third‑party analytics or advertising SDKs. If iOS reports anonymous crash diagnostics through Apple's standard system, we may receive aggregated reports from Apple. You can disable this in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

2. How We Use Information

• To provide the core plant‑tracking features you enabled.
• To deliver community posts and replies to other users when you post.
• To verify your Pro subscription status when applicable.
• To diagnose problems and improve the app.

3. Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with:

• Apple, for App Store delivery, in‑app purchases, and (if you enable it) iCloud sync.
• Other Petal users, but only the content you explicitly post to the community along with your chosen username.

4. Children

Petal is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Plant data on your device is retained until you delete it or remove the app. Community posts you create are retained on our server until you delete them or request account deletion. To request deletion of your community account, content, or username, email petal@kinsman.cc from the device or with your username, and we will remove the data within 30 days.

6. Security

We use HTTPS for all network requests, and access tokens are stored securely in iOS using Keychain or protected storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we make a good‑faith effort to keep your data safe.

7. Your Choices

• You can use Petal entirely offline; community features are optional.
• You can disable iCloud sync in iOS Settings.
• You can delete posts, your username, or your community profile at any time.
• You can manage your subscription in iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest change. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
